Acrylic lenses are the most commonly used engraving materials after wood. They are easy to cut and sculpt. They come in various shapes and sizes, and are relatively inexpensive.

Acrylic lenses have two production processes, namely casting and calendering. The laser engraving machine mainly uses acrylic casting to produce acrylic lenses, because the frosting effect produced by laser engraving is very white, which is in sharp contrast with the original transparent texture. The manufactured acrylic lens is still transparent after laser engraving and does not have sufficient contrast. When purchasing acrylic lenses, you must emphasize high purity to the dealer, otherwise the repurchased materials may melt when engraving or cutting.

1. Sculpture

Generally, acrylic lenses are engraved on the back, that is, engraved from the front and viewed from the back, which makes the finished product more three-dimensional. Please engrave the mirror image on the back, the engraving speed is fast low power. If the power is too high during the engraving process, uneven stripes will appear on the bottom surface. If you want to be more profound, try carving multiple times. In the case of back carving, the local coloring should be sculpted deeper, and then flame polishing can be used to fill the color. Without polishing, the color seen from the front will be uneven.

2. Cutting

Acrylic lenses are easier to cut. If the customer's requirements are not high, they can be delivered after cutting without flame polishing. Otherwise, a blower should be used in the cutting process to improve the cutting quality. When cutting acrylic lenses larger than 8mm, large size lenses should be replaced.

Note: When cutting acrylic lenses, the operator should not leave, there may be flames when cutting.

3. Dyeing

Acrylic pigments can be used, other pigments will damage the smoothness of acrylic lenses!

4. Clean

Clean the surface with a damp cloth after carving.
